Storm-Salvaged Cherry Burl Coasters - Set of 6 (cb002)

$60.00

From the rolling hills near Spring Green, Wisconsin, a storm-damaged cherry tree offered one last gift—a burl whose grain dances with chaos and clarity. In the studio, each set is cut from a contiguous slice, capturing the swirling story in perfect sequence. Arrange the pieces edge to edge, and you’ll find a subtle continuity: a puzzle mapped by nature, only revealed through care and craft.

Rather than let the wood stand alone, a band of black resin was cast to frame the grain, drawing the eye firmly to the figure and marking a deliberate contrast between what’s wild and what’s refined. The resin is understated by design—a silent partner so the wood’s complexity takes center stage. And because the burl was too modest for furniture, these coasters bring its beauty into daily use, so anyone can hold a rare piece of the forest’s artistry.

Each coaster is finished with European-grade hardwax oil for a natural, breathable glow and exceptional durability, and resistance to moisture, spills, acidic foods, and UV rays—defending against daily wear for generations.

This finish combination is proven to perform like polyurethane but without the plastic appearance.
